With reference to Sheffield City Council’s plans to replace the iconic cooling towers at Tinsley with a public art work commissioned to ‘represent’ Sheffield to its inhabitants and visitors, Kate Longman and I showed an interim collection of our ongoing archive of landmarks, vistas and incidental city features of significance to its inhabitants, contributed through public submission, which aimed to reflect the multiple and ever-changing internal and external factors that inform the perception, experience and definition of place.
